Deepest anguish settles in
even while knowing that it has no right
to be here

What we were is tossed aside
strength faltering in a single dark night
out of fear

Still it echoed through this day
of  dreams forming cold without sleep it might
become clear

The consuming pain that holds
my thoughts suspended, this now fading light's
deadly spear
