Oh, what beauty there is
in the complex intertwining of life!
It lingers within each part of me
creating harmony where there is discord
giving direction to a directionless world
uniting us all and letting us see
Beneath color, creed, faith, and folly
we are all the same
sharing an origin with a single source
so complex, so mysterious
just beyond the realm of our understanding
Yet with every step of progress and dreaming
Ever closer to our grasp.
It is the key
So that the universe may see itself
And be amazed.
Author notes
Carl Sagan once said that life is a chance for the cosmos to understand itself. If that is the case, DNA is the mechanism that allows this self-understanding. I really enjoy the challenge of writing poetry about science, because it's a different mode of thought, yet every bit as beautiful as love. Just harder to write poetry about...I'll have to think on why that is.

I enjoy what you have to say here, it definitely shows your interests in science. I'm glad to see someone who is willing to write from this perspective because I agree that it can show just as much beauty as that of raw emotion. The underlying value offers a much larger glimpse then simple esthetic curves.
