For You

Missing image


I’d grab the moon out of the sky for you,
to give your skin an ivory glow,
the mother moon and I are best of friends,
there’s not a lot she doesn’t know.

The sun I’d tempt for just an hour or so,
to keep you warm and dry your tears,
on strict instruction not to go away,
until it’s driven off your fears.

I’d push the clouds away to make you smile,
to light your path when times seem dark,
they mustn’t dare return, I’ll tell them so,
until I see the faintest spark.

I’ll pick a special star, well one or two,
and scatter them around your eyes,
and there they’ll stay until the dawning breaks,
caressing you with gentle sighs.

I’ll draw my heart upon your windowpane,
put our initials side by side,
they’ll be no arrow there to separate,
too many broken hearts have died.

Dear friend there’s nothing that I would not do,
to let you know how much I care,
believe me when I say that this old heart,
never forgets that you are there.
