I was deaf as I stood holding you.
Your heartbeat the only thing audible.
I saw the quick flicker of lights.
They soared through the sky,
as we watched each brick tumble.
The ground lay covered in ash,
the crowd uproarious and rioting.
I held on to my heart of stone.
Tall and stiff no muscle dare move.
As the celebration carried on
My hope had been discouraged
I caress her chiseled features
and spend this night like the rest
Begging for her walls to tumble
For the site of the Berlin wall.
That screamed of freedom and pride.
Could not coerce her to abide.
Hammered away all imperfections.
And left the perfect exterior.
One to make any woman green with envy.
But the light that once shown from eyes.
And that gentle blush on her cheeks.
Has long since subsided...grey.
Like the sky in summer rain.
I just keep praying for the sun.

that one line sums it up for so many different people, and it really struck a chord with me. Very nice job on this onel; it was well penned -

I love you poetry

It's deep and meaningful.
What are some things that help you write -
-
Usually I try and start out rhyming when I'm writing poems. Then i incorporate different word choices after it's completed to add more choice vocabulary.
