I saw two leaves race today

I saw two leaves racing today
Along the street on autumn's day
Where they were going, I can't say
But I saw two leaves race today

I saw them dancing with the wind
I saw them laugh, I watched them sing
Two laughing leaves, the darnedest thing
I saw them dancing with the wind

I caught them holding hands, I swear
A lady and her cavalier
He carried her through autumn's air
I caught them holding hands, I swear

I saw them and I thought of you
For such a bond is far and few
Lucky for us, we've got it too
So I saw them and thought of you

I felt your love in me today
Along the street where two leaves lay
The joy in me, I can't explain
I felt your love in me today

Author notes

On my way back from class today I saw these two leaves blowing in the wind tumbling over each other & whatever leaves do, and I swear they were in love lol. It was the weirdest thing. Like I just looked at them and saw two people, not leaves. It was like watching a boy and a girl walking together (or man and woman, or whatever, but you get the picture)

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!

    Brilliant. I love this...

The form too; I've never seen it before, but you wrote it well. It contributed to the feel of the poem nicely. Well done

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it =] I don't know if this form has a name, I didn't even intend to write in any particular form when I started the poem, it just came out this way & it seemed to fit.
