The eve blowing in rain,
A smudge of brown-black light,
Heavy droplets falling,
A dark windy night
A flicker in the shadow, a rustle in the wind,
Their eyes glowing brightly, a cat and her kin
Puddles on cobblestones, the fresh smell of rain,
The Stranger stalks through an alleyway,
Quiet, refrained.
Cold and coughing, the stranger bundled in cloth,
Shivering and quivering, wishing for some broth.
He stumbles and falls, face splashing a puddle,
A drenched head rose, angered and muddled.
Crawling to a corner, covered by a sheath,
Clinging to warmth, cursing his chattering teeth
He heard something stir, a rattle from behind,
And happy to find, a furry rat that went blind
The stranger gestured, hoping to make a friend,
The rat moved closer, curious to no end.
Sleep came that night, no cold felt by both,
Happily crouched in a corner, they cuddled in a coat

Welcome to AllPoetry!!!
This was humorous, but also a delightful poem with a lesson...friendship can be found in the oddest places with the most peculiar people (animal included)...Nicely written rhyming!
