Autumn's Life

I cannot speak for those who choose
Those paths “less traveled” as their way,
Nor question choices made by them
In days long past or nights long dim
By words they spoke or did not say.

I've headed North to South, then back again,
Like birds I have followed like all the rest
Escaping nature's snowy cave
On roads I've been and place seen
Forsaking roads that traveled East or West.

This journey grows now to its end,
As road reflections lined in chrome
Give way to roads with greater bend
And empty signs that still pretend
They point the way to home sweet home.

But all roads lead to where we go
And where we go is where we've been,
So home is just a word I know,
A space in time most apropos
For where I want to be again.

For even home, it seems to me,
Is still a choice we all must face
From day to day and endlessly,
To choose if home is going to be
Another road - or just a place.

the poetic comment on Robert Frost stands well on its own two feet yet focus on love lost was the object of this contest

    Life is an adventure

I liked the way you expressed yourself, the imagery and flow I found espeacially interesting. Thank you for entering our Contest the delay is in having both of us as judge.

    We will be completed soon.
    Thank you,
    Cheryl

  • I absolutely love, love, love this poem that you've written. wow you've got some excellent points here all within this poem. This is now my favorite of your poems. I found that I could relate this particular poem in stanza 3 and 5.

I think that you should write more often than you do, I know you're busy but...

    Good luck
