Submerged world, kinda...

I watched how treetops lose
their sharp contours,
all edges blurred,
a scary picture, almost absurd,
Trees looking like crying ghosts.

Behind them... nothing.
Some strange force arrived
to eat this world, piece by piece,
sending it into nothingness.

It was like a legend
of a submerged world, that came to life.

On the land
dark circles of autumn tears.
Mine stay imprisoned, mostly.
From time to time they come out
to moisten with dew my smile.

The cat came to rub her back against my legs
watching me, surprised,
in her eyes questions
and answers.
Cats know everything.
Her tail, like a tourist's guide flag,
called me to follow her.

A few minutes later, in my bed,
two forms, both waiting for the morning sun.
One, softly purring,
the other one thinking of you.

A very soft and gentle poem, reflective in more ways than one just like your furry all knowing friend
Animals do have an uncanny way of knowing our innermost feelings and they are very loyal

You've chosen such a lovely and contemplative picture as your prompt, Sonja. I liked it so much, I've saved it as a washed background, so thank you for bringing it to my attention. This is a tender and melancholy piece, which is understandable when one is away from their beloved for too long a time. And I agree, cats DO know everything. They provide comfort when you are sad and company when you are not. Thank you for entering my contest, Sweetie. Good luck, my Friend. And may your smile reappear soon.
