It's what I won't admit out loud,
It's what I refuse to say;
Something I hide from my heart of hearts,
It's what you'll never hear me say.
I still hate your voice,
I still flinch inside when I see your face;
When I hear your footsteps,
I want to run the other way.
It's how I feel inside,
It's what my vision tells;
Something cold inside,
It's clamor in my ears.
The snakes still slither inside,
The bugs crawl on my skin;
When I say your name,
I growl it from within.
Your smile,
You sinner,
Your sillouhette,
You kill me...
But you don't know it yet.
It's how I smile to your face,
It's what I refuse to say;
Something piercing underlies
The words in our friendly repartee.
It's what I refuse to say;
Something I hide from my heart of hearts,
It's what you'll never hear me say.
I still hate your voice,
I still flinch inside when I see your face;
When I hear your footsteps,
I want to run the other way.
It's how I feel inside,
It's what my vision tells;
Something cold inside,
It's clamor in my ears.
The snakes still slither inside,
The bugs crawl on my skin;
When I say your name,
I growl it from within.
Your smile,
You sinner,
Your sillouhette,
You kill me...
But you don't know it yet.
It's how I smile to your face,
It's what I refuse to say;
Something piercing underlies
The words in our friendly repartee.
Author notes
Being polite doesn't necessarily mean you have to actually ::like:: the person. As a matter of fact, sometimes it's the only way not to rip someone's throat out as soon as you see them.

So what's the story you think is behind this poem?

so true. forced civilness keeps the outward fighting at bay. Good poem. if i had to guess what it's about, i'd guess someone did something to you and apparently has no idea how much it hurts or affects you.

i really love thius piece and its true we have to be polite to some people and not even enjoy thepain that it puts us through.
i really enjoyed this piece and it says a great deal. a really great job and thanks for sharing.

I wonder how horrified we would be at times to hear the conversations our subconsciouses exchange upon meeting. The difference between what we tell ourselves we are trying to do and what we are REALLY trying to do. Nothing on the surface can override that inner knowledge of our feelings for another person. And yet the paradox I am still dancing around-- in Chinese five element theory, anger is the emotion that comes before, that feeds joy. Maybe the last gate to the kingdom? We have all felt the things you write about. You express them well. Can we welcome these feelings? Could we release them? When?

I would like to find more information about that five element theory.
I think that some feelings you should welcome, and others should be accepted and put aside, not repressed. That just leads to worse things.
Thank you for your comment! -

You are so kind! I was actually on my way to delete those meandering thoughts. I was afraid I'd gotten too far off the subject. And I certainly agree that repressing feelings does not work over time. If you really want to know, I'll try to explain about five element theory; right now brie and crackers are calling, so hopefully this weekend. Okay?
