Freedom

Missing image

Two year old, quiet, head down going up that mountain,

Eric talking too much , not watching , listening ,feeling

should have had his mouth shut.

 Hard lessons learned,

should have seen that horse when she finally spun

cut through those woods ,

down that mountain at a dead run ,

through trees , pine gullies.

had a fight of my own when the stud wanted to follow.

That boy sure was quiet going out of the valley two broken legs,

busted lip and bested by a little filly,

he just did not take the time to listen,

to fear, confusion and anger.

Author notes

green under saddle, always make a break for freedom.

Good write Rheea. Reminds me of an old horse named Smokey on my uncles farm. Beware the unseasoned rider two miles out come hell or high water he was headed for the barn.

    Happy trails.

A familiar experience to many who have sat in the saddle while the steed beneath them wheels and heads for the barn on a dead run. Nicely done poem Rheea.

    Happy trails.

You can tell what a person is like by the way they work with a horse.
    Well written..

Story very well told--great flow. Yes, when we ignore all the signs wherther they be visual or audio we loose. A horse will tell you alot if you are willing to listen, see and feel. They will tell us how well things are going for them and if there is something wrong.
    Well done.

    ooooouchh

sounds painful! yeah, paying attention would be beneficial to one's well being when they are on horse..they are beautiful creatures, but sure need to use caution, and common sense if you expect a good outcome....this piece had great imagery in it my friend, it felt like i was there..

It's important that one learn to pay attention to their surroundings whether it be with animals or people. You have penned a great scenario explaining why.
