~The Sinful City~

The world is:
smoky surroundings with ashes as rain,
all is calm to the eyes; such a peaceful surface!
None know of the creeping shadows that lay
beneath all that's pale, white and grey.
She's having the bitterest time searching in vain
under all the cracked boards of burned wood
and the unbreathe-able air.

Disfigured shadows cast upon the walls
with the crimson blood boiling in veins.
Steps echo, not just around the place but
in heads, thoughts and body cells.

The church oozes the warning alarm and
earth celebrates as past smokes of cooked flesh
rise and fall in a darkening harmony.

Behold the creature with the contorted shape!

Splash, squish, smash and squeeze,
she vomits her fear on the doorstep as fire captures the scene.

He slithers, creeps... runs and bangs,
false prayers fail at last to keep him at bay
and he drops through the door's crack onto the carpet;
such a bleeding shadow he casts upon the hearts!

Hide!! Hide, you, who beseeches safety!!!

Barrr!!! Munch, juice and lick,
flesh cleaned from upon the bones... tongue works wonders
upon the bones' brains.

He mops the floor with the skin and licks the blade...

Now, throw the skeleton upon the door... but DAMN IT!!!!!
The church bells are ringing, again.
Hell opens the doors to swallow back the world of sin.

He pulls his mouth open and screams then....

puff!!!!!!!!!!

All vanishes and earth, again, rejoices the blood rain....

Prompt Three:
In London there is a man who screams when the church bells ring.
H.P. Lovecraft
"The Descendant"

This prompt brought me images from my favorite horror movie (Silent Hill) and this is where this write came from. I don't know, this is just my third attempt at a bloody-dark write, wonder how I did.

Thanks for reading!

    Good, but didn't totally follow...

This is a good piece and the style in which you wrote it is fairly unique to me and works well for what you seem to be trying to do. It IS creepy though not very scary though a bit more detail could easily make it so-then again, re-reading it I can appreciate its scare factor. I like the concept of the church bell and most of your word use is great.

This is a good piece and I am glad you entered, good luck in the contest!

Thank you for your entry here.  I am not aware of the film you mention but you have used some good imagery.  I feel a little more horrific description would of topped this off..... definitely dark though ;-)
