The City

Your dirty teeth, your raunchy breath
Your gilded streets are simply left
To slowly rot, such little deaths
As summer rains away
So I enter you with wild abandon
Full of joy you never had and
Frenetic, frenzied, lost again
Still summer rains away
I'll wash you off in a stranger's house
He lent me for a couple hours
And dreams, they came, and we both caroused
While summer rained away
The onset of autumn, the decay of light
From a thousand miles, a distant spot
The City yearns, calls me to flight
But summer rained away
And here is where I'll stay

Author notes

I've been thinking about writing something like this for a while, and it kind of came out in about twenty minutes. There will be sequels, and I'll probably end up revising this.

Please tell me what you think

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!
