My Lord! Is it that I am not so fair?
for I the mistress of your warm embrace
am grieving more and more your empty chair
and sorrow this reflections dullest face.
When I proceed your promise to reclaim
In hope to flame the ardour of our youth,
for shame! you brazen me by other name
and bury me in cuckold’s arms forsooth.
The time is now I beg thee not retreat
to other bed while I watch summers fly;
seems ne’er I’ll hear the joy of tiny feet
as warm to cool will surely fade then die.
Forget me not for I can forget too,
I mean to have a son to follow through.
Please tell me what you think

I like your use of archaic language, mixed with the ordinary. The theme issad and wistful, but I just thought the last words 'follow through' were maybe a bit to modern, or representatative of 'management-speak' to which I have a particular aversion, even though of course the phrase is universal. To be extra-helpful, I have not the faintest idea how I would finish!

I am afraid I had no other idea either and I agree with your "management -speak. Something may turn up though as it often does with me and I will change it, She is saying loud and clear though
I will! and 'what can you do about it? -

I suppose you could just switch it about:
....................for I too can forget
A son I mean to have, and a son I'll surely get
But it is your thing, and it would take a lot for me to change anything, vanity and arrogance!

The sonnet is my favorite form and this one is just beautiful. I love the couplet. Bravo!

Oh yes!!! How good is THIS! Ronnica, you have done it again with your oustanding grasp of middle english and the life in those times. It is such a pleasure to read your work. I've got to go and look up "cuckold" but other than that I saw the moment and felt the emotion clearly. So poetic and well worded. Loved it.
