Blow the troubled winds of March,
to sail around the horn
Leaving loved ones so far behind,
so worried and forlorn
And set ye mark to distant shores,
to pillage and leave in ruins
The wanton wench and drunken sot,
lives barren as dunes
To steal the booty then set to seas,
we roll to Pirates cove
Leaving worries behind us now,
those we’ve killed in droves
Wind howling at the backs of man,
storms fight to set us free
A beckoning from Davy Jones,
to settle up with me
Yet we chase the mermaid’s tail,
till dead seas slow us down
Adrift for months in solitude,
as every man does drown
We call for land to break these chains,
a prisoner of the seas
On deafest ears our cries are heard,
let no one know our pleas
Then breaking on the reddest shine,
the wail of land is told
Drifting into the desolate,
so full our cargo hold
Yet empty hearts do fill the men,
for the loves we’ve left behind
Lost among the straights of death,
the compass reading blind
This eerie cove does call us in,
with ships left here in bones
Their tired masts rise from the deep,
cold and all alone
For here we seek the burial,
with blood stains on our hands
Of all the loot we lifted clean,
our treasure so big and grand
All dead men in our hearts and souls,
I feel the pain the most
So far away my lady dear,
her face my mind to host
My one last call to tame the world,
has left me here to cry
As treasure is what I left behind,
for that I now will die

Now for my personal response. I love this pirate, and he is my personal pirate king, this lady would pine away, with thoughts of you off with all that treasure so far from me. To be trapped there and not in my arms.
With all my love and lust, you are my pirate king.

This was a sad take on the pirate theme, but it did a great job of showing the hearts of some pirates. I loved this one here.
Thank you and best wishes.

Wonderful take on the prompt

You have captured the hearts and lifestyles of pirates very well here
I love the rhyming pattern that you chose
The piece reads smoothly throughout
A poignant fantasy that is so well written
Wish you the best in the contest
Take care my friend

This one could have been used for the setting of the Pirate's of the Caribbian movies. I enjoyed reading every line. Great Job!! Think I may have to go look at some of your other peoms.

Nicely penned as always,
I am sure your Lady will enjoy it and I definately see it placing..
havent read the others so cant say if its gold or not, but top 3 for sure.
Of course your pieces in this manner always strike a chord in many. Good luck although I know you dont need it in this one.
