Animal Cruelty

The frog threw itself against the glass,
Over and over again, jumping and
Beating and killing itself, hopping hopefully
Until it was all burnt out.

The fish flapped against the seashore,
Mouth gasping and gills flapping,
Threshing wildly, flopping fretfully
Until it was all burnt out.

The bird dashed for the window,
Beating itself against the frame, against the walls
Breaking its wings anon, flitting frantically
Until it was all burnt out.

The deer tried to get to its feet
Over and over again, not surmising
That its wound was deadly, bluntly bleeding
Until it was all burnt out.

The cat valiantly fought its aggressors,
Teeth bared and threatening, growling,
Failing to reach the tree and safety, bravely batting
Until it was all burnt out.

The dog lay panting on its side, waiting
For the final mortal wound to end its misery,
Struggling valiantly to stand, tall and tormented
Until it was all burnt out.

The child hid behind closed doors then
Into the closet when the door was broken,
Pretending not to see or hear, only partially present
Until it was all burnt out.

The woman wept softly, so as not to waken
Her tormentor, who jumped from the bed
To shove her head through the wall, inadequate and incoherent
For she was all burnt out.

Don't like it, stfu.
