The lone streetlamp illuminates the snowy street,
Protects against the black velvet
that caresses the skyline of the distant city.
The crisp night air whispers at an iced nose,
Bites at exposed ears that listen
to the slushing of tires on a distant street
A sigh escapes his mouth and becomes steam,
swirling to the domed streetlight
where snowflakes twinkle like the stars
The soft snow crunches under quick footsteps
that carry him away from a heart
he left to become like winter:
Frigid, bleak, and icy.
Author notes
“Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all.”

A heart rending version of a departing love (or a departing season...which can also feel the same) dear Poet.
I thought this was a refreshing approach and I liked how you brought in an aspect that was not all about nature’s imagery.
Very well done!

I like how descriptive you are and all your similes.
-
you have such a strong ability to draw this up with words
i can feel as if i am in the poem :]
