we will watch the sky dissolve,
as the ink of the last sunset
sinks into our veins.
a nostalgic realization
that only in these last moments
will we have truly seized our own humanity.
a subdued catharsis waiting,
crouching behind our eyes,
and at that moment we would all align
finally submissive, accepting
in silence, bowing heads to the earth--
we never did it justice,
we brought this on ourselves
we brought this on ourselves.
the oceans would sigh
as the sky opens its mouth
and swallows the world whole.
the stars would keep burning, pulsing
in empty darkness
as the other planets would finally breathe again.
and our history would vanish, as our bodies
but our souls, supernovas.
