Green

Green,
sweet green,
you know i just wanna pluck your
sweet leaves

Greed,
Good greed,
times like this just
motivate me

See,
dont you see
Greed is love and
love is green

and theres a dirt road waiting there
to pave a peaceful way
dont you try, dont you dare
says the greedy man with
short black hair

Green,
sweet green,
its what you need to have
a family

Greed,
Good greed,
legal if its
given to me

See,
says he,
no use in trying
to defeat me

Author notes

What makes it hard to create peace is that everything we need and want is controlled by the greedy leaders, and we are stuck being slaves to them if we want to get what we need. Their greed is masked by the illusion that they act for the greater good, but really they're just acting for their self-interest. And any attempt at creating peace outside the norm already established means starting from scratch, because no leader leaves behind any resources to be used for creating a peaceful world. Also, the first stanza isn't referring to plants. It's referring to the idea that, to the rich or privileged, money basically just "grows on trees". This is all said in that song, try to pick it out.

I like this. It makes one think. There is enough for all when. Folks think they need more than they do.

I do see some non-greeding business and political leaders coming of age.
