When A Heart Never Mends

With heavy heart and midnight shadows,
feelings of emptiness overwhelms,
depth of my loneliness consumes my soul,
sorrow lingers and makes me weep.

Where once were two sharing passion,
now there is but one, lost in realization,
happiness has come and gone once more,
though love was fleeting, time stands still.

Love's mirage, so close, beyond my grasp,
an illusion that fills my broken heart,
on going emptiness that seems endless,
for this heart still longs for your touch.

I did not know my heart would not mend,
that eyes could still shed so many tears,
for a part of me is still with you,
without my heart I shall never be whole.

As the stillness of the night begins to fall,
why do I let my foolish thoughts of you,
fill my mind and heart with such agony,
when you have been gone so very long?

this poem is so sad, I felt my heart sink as I read this losing someone we love is often the hardest experience to endure and when we love them so so much, losing them often stays with us forever. your title says it all, "when a heart never mends" so much within this poem and title. there is more that I want to say but honestly I can't find the right words, and I'm not sure that there are any "right" words to say.

    very sad

And very well written. Sometimes life presents us with very intense experiences and when they don't seem to go the way we want them to those experiences can cut to the quick and it seems we'll never heal. As our heart heals we will still have moments where we question it's validity. Just know that's part of what makes us human and know that you're alive. I've learned to recognize when it's happening and then let it go. You just have a larger capacity for compassion and love. Sorry about the book I can't seem to stop.lol

    So sad

Well said sometimes healing takes a while but always remeber God is there to bring comfort when we look back to those we loved and lost. I understand the lost it's deep and unless one has been there that cannot know. But Jesus knows those burdens so deep that no one can heal like his healing touch. He is our God of all comfort. Sensitive and wonderful write of that dear one you miss.

    God Bless

A beautifully sad poem, so very well written, that flows so well.
What has helped me is as the memories start to flood in, I simplly say to myself it "NO". Then I concentrate on something else. You do that enough times and it will become automatic.
I also think of HIM, our maker, our mircle maker, the ONE TRUE TRUTH. He is there to help us and provide an escape from temptation. We must take advantage of that escape or be doomed to yhe torture of time, memories and even repeating our mistake to the poit of self destruction.

    Sandy,

Love.... what a strange and bittersweet malady. A sickness of the heart, yet a restorer of souls; a languishing pain, yet the source of joy. A great treasure when possessed, yet the root of great impoverishment when lost. I suppose the only way we can learn to truly appreciate the value of love is to suffer the heartbreak of losing it.

Though this breaks my heart to read, you have done a great job on this one.
