Burning the Past

I threw it on the fire and
felt all those thoughts again.
I watched the flames burns high
and swallowed hard trying not to cry.
my heart did hurt but I'm not sure why!
this very day marks the last!
I will not cry!
I will not hurt!
the memories will soon grow gray,
as your face becomes a blur.
I will move on today!
