Where my heart lies waiting
I'd rather spend my time
On mountains that reach the sky
To spend my time walking
The trails along the streams and falls
Leading to hidden secluded lakes
I'd rather be in Colorado
Instead of riding the train morning
And walking in the concrete jungle
I'd rather work where the only pay
Is how I chose to spend my day
Rather than an office of walls
With empty souls and hollow halls
I'd rather be in Colorado
Where the air is thin and crisp
On mountain peaks covered in snow
I'd rather be where my love is near
To touch her hand, her face
To be enamored by her grace
Let me be in Colorado
In the end I dwell in a office
With a cough from the pollution
I live in Windy City
Author notes
" I guess he'd rather be in Colorado
He'd rather spend his time out where the sky looks like a pearl after a rain
Once again I see him walkin Once again I hear him talking to the stars he makes
and asking them for bus fare
I guess he'd rather be in Colorado
He'd rather play his banjo in the morning when the moon is scarcely gone
In the dawn the subways comin in the dawn I hear him hummin'
Some old song he wrote of love in Boulder Canyon
I guess he'd rather be in Colorado
I guess he'd rather be in Colorado
I guess he'd rather work out where the only thing you earn is what you spend
In the end up in his office
In the end a quiet cough is all he has to show
He lives in New York City "

What Is holding You Back????
If you love Colorado , why not go there??? Or is just a poem coorelated to John Denver's song??? I thought maybe you had met some love from your past and reignited your love for one another and she lived in Colorado...but hey...I am just guessing. I know what it is like tobe in one place and long to be elsewhere. I live in Columbus ohio and the only reason I am staying for now is because I have a daughter just starting college in the winter quarter and I want to make sure she is well grounded before I decide where I want to be...My heart is in West Virginia, but I would love to live in Nashville Tennessee, or a nice conservative state somewhere...This is very nice imagery displayed here and it made me want to live there for a moment but then I think of the Winters there in Colorado and I think BRRRRRRRR....lol although I would LOVE to see the beautiful snow covered mountains there and breathe in the crisp air for maybe a week during the snowy season...Anyway just a great poem!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!~~~Toni~~~

You would be correct on both accounts. I love Colorado AND there is a friend with whom I've reunited in a very intimate way but it is very complicated. If you want to piece together the mystery, the evidence is on FB
