Clocks

I will stare at you until you stop, cold, so cold you can’t tell if your burning or not. I will beg you, plead, until you stop me. Do not take this lightly; do not believe the cocks will save us.

When I see time, moving effortlessly, cutting my blank life into pieces, I see us together, lying in your bed. It was different, unimportant. The music in the background reverberated throughout my body. It would stay for weeks, just like your kisses. God, why is this wrong? Why does every clock’s tick seem to  sound like her heart beating against me?
