A golden moon did slowly rise
To glimmer in the starry skies
The air was still upon this night
So bathed in listless lunar light
The rippling water's surface smoothed
As lulling waves so gently soothed
With melodies upon the stone
At water's edge where moonlight shone
There softly blew an autumn breeze
Which whispered secrets in the trees
A purple haze engulfed the night
As shadows danced amid their flight
Green blades of grass grew white with frost
A testament to summer lost
The leaves of amber, brown, and red
From mighty oaken limbs were shed
The air took on a basal chill
The night again was stark and still
While yet unhindered in its quest
The moon sank slowly in the west

I love how you capurted the spirit of the autumn night. Very well written and absolutely beautiful. I could see every picture that you painted.

This is a beautiful image, leaves falling, the moon shining, not everyone is writing about the harvest moon and that is what you help me to see as well as the brightness of the moon on the other nights. The colors that you describe, you make autumn come alive in this well penned write. Excellent. Blessings.

Beautiful and soft ...
with a lovely lyrical sway to the silent music. Your poem reminded me that winter is nearing in the USA, while here in South Africa it is almost summer.
Thank you for a light and comforting read.
Love
Myra
