Ode to Oregon

All the while you stayed with me
Playing music in my room
I ignored repeating thoughts
Of the impending doom

I tired so hard to be aloof
I tried so hard to be brave
How much I cared I did not show
How well did I behave?

It’s a bitter pill to swallow
That my love was all in vain
I mightily try to wash you off
To cleanse my heart in Oregon rain.

The northern sun sits higher
My shadow here cast longer
My image here stands taller
Everyday I grow stronger

But love cannot uproot and leave
If it did, love, it would not be
When we parted I shook your hand
And left the better part of me.

Of you I talk no longer
About you I do not weep
And if you should return
To this myself I’ll keep:
That my still water for you, runs deep

What did you like the best and what can I work on?
