The Human Spirit's True Nature

I thought I knew everything
but I was wrong.
I always thought people
could get along.

But, as a matter of fact,
the human spirit is tainted.
Anger, theft and murder
are the acts of Satan.

I always thought there was peace
until I was introduced to war.
I never really questioned
why one would go so far.

I always thought anger
should have never been an emotion.
Because its intense ferocity
causes unnecessary commotion.

Why can't there be peace?
Why can't there be harmony?
Why can't we everyone
be like one big happy family?

Why do we fight?
Why do we shoot?
Why can't we give violence
the big ol' ugly boot?

Because we have misjudged God,
we were born with sin.
Therefore we must beg for forgiveness
from our almighty Lord, Him.

The just shall be rewarded
for following his rule.
And the wicked shall be cast down
for acting so sinful, so cruel.

I thought I knew everything,
but I was wrong.
Now I've learned that people
will never get along.
