Aroma of burning leaves wafting
in the cool crisp air, brings with it
nostalgia of summer's warm heat,
the lushness of blooms everywhere.
Memories of ocean breezes cooling
the brow, while indian paint brush,
wild foxglove, blackberry bushes
heavy with berries smile back at me,
inviting the season back in my mind.
A frozen in time long winter with it's
majesty, yet inconvenience of travel
with snow heavy roads made us stop
and ponder..yes, life stood in limbo,
while the nativity of the Christ child
had been celebrated months ago.
Now, there is something regal about
the fall..Gold leaf maple and oak leaves
fall around me as a mantle on my shoulders
and at my feet as I scrunch them as
I walk under the remaining canopy
in these trees while among the gilded
colors, cadmium red and burnt sienna
leaves form a carpet around me..
Truly...this is a glowing time of year!
