It all comes crashing down

You never cared for me,
you say my life’s a waste
yet you were so quick to want me -
you did it all in haste.

A cheap throw-away toy,
a paper wrapper, if you please
thrown in a box, a useless decoy
labelled New Found Disease.

Emotion never leaves the bed -
it never left this sage grey room.
Disgust never leaves my head,
and my heart is an empty tomb.

“And I’m living on a broken heart of dreams,
blackened by the ways you left me used;”
for, if anything was really what it seems,
my heart wouldn’t be so bruised.

But reality has come to stay,
there are no fairy tales
no more games for us to play,
nothing more to entail.

Wake up, be well, get on my way
there’s everywhere else to be.
No more meaningless things to say,
for love has forgotten me.
