I am another year older
and pleased to the core
Embraced by your love,
Alone nevermore

For you are the reason
new flowers must wait
To blossom indifferent
would spoil a grand date

Blue Jays will argue
o’er morsels they’ve found
while you watch intently,
not making a sound

Oceans and beaches
offer their gifts
of water and sand
that endlessly shifts

Old worlds spin ‘round us
ignoring the fact
This day in history
will never come back

I, for the record,

    Surfing aroud AP I came across this poem and thought WOW...how did you know my birthday was coming up so had to go and read it since I was not sure who my secret admirer is...but alas...wrong Darlene..Seems there is another wonderful person with the same name as I have and apparently has a birthday around the same time...What a very lucky person to have some one like you write such a lovely poem for her...your Darlene is one lucky gal...

    So Happy Birthday Darlene. You have a keeper in Leo...May the two of you enjoy many more celebrations together...

    I love this this is beautiful, I am so glad you didn't put my age in there, I wish I could write Birthday poems like this. Your 2nd to the end of the the 5th are excellent. Thank you for sharing and entering

    It's written from your heart with the warmth and love you feel for her.
    You both are so fortunate to have each other.
