Summer Rays fade to Golden Days

Summer has come and gone
leaves will turn from green
to gold like a bright yellow Marigold
to red as a crisp Gala apple
then brown as a hibernating bear's hide.

Gentle weather will be found
no more "too hot" days.
Nights turn cooler,
animals rush to harvest.

Children grow excited
for that special time of spooks
pranks and laughter.
Then comes Thanksgiving,
a time of family, food and fun.

As fall drifts to a close,
the last leaf floating
  down
  down
    down
and Autumn will soon be done.

Lovely... A paean sung to Nature's majesty... "Summer Rays fade to Golden Days" glows as it shows the beauty of life's metamorphosis.

If you don't mind my saying so- this was a-freaking-mazing! The only thing you could improve upon wuld be to maybe make your similies a little more sophisticated- they are a bit cliche. Not much, but a bit. Otherwise, great poem- I loved reading it!

Great! I really like these new similies- especially the last one about the bear. See what great stuff you can come up with when you set your mind to it?

I would love to experience autumn in your country, for you it is more than just a season with the other things you celebrate. You have explained it nicely in this poem. Sheila
