Shallow graves, squalor, disease,
hope’s tears dashed earthward
by cloying death-scented breeze;
pariahs of race, colour, creed,
conspiracies of guilty silence
to disassociate from heinous deed.
Concrete walls, wire windows, dust,
dehumanization-by-numbers,
death camp demons hidden lust;
never for the world’s eyes to see,
a hypocrisy of feigned ignorance
as long as we ourselves are free.
Cries now bitter as parents die,
children reach between the wire,
hands grasping towards a rescue lie;
can ‘Gods’ not here the desperate pleas,
or like us, do they turn away as
morality crumbles like dried autumn leaves?

My writing at the moment is going from non-existent, to....meh.
This one (inspired by the picture) is about atrocities, particular those carried out within the confines of refugee camps, or concentration camps. It is a problem that should have ended with what happened during WWII, though it is just as modern a problem and what is really sad is not only do we know about it and cant claim ignorance, but we willfully turn a blind eye to it, even justify it, even when such atrocities today are carried out by the decendants of the people who suffered in such camps in WWII.

Oh wow, such a deeply powerful
and influential piece. I really
love the effort you put forth
here in conveying such
brutality & honesty, yet with
soft visuals.
This was beautiful.
Thanks for entering & best of luck

This was nothing short of amazing, especially with the music I was listening to in the background (Through The Roof n' Underground by Gogol Bordello)
This had so much depth and it really made me feel angst for the world on which we live.
