Drink to me only with?

Ah Joe, no poem to speak of Violet Eyes,
to behold the satin of newborn skies?

How about those of deep desire
which kindle in an Emerald Fire?

Or flash of stardust twinking hues
only found in Baby Blues?

Sigh Sweet Amber's golden sun
until biker heart comes undone?

Dance midnight fate, see destiny trip
dark gypsy cant in Licorice Whip?

And what of Places Far Away
winging dreams in eyes of gray?

The kiss-me-quick in Hazel Sass,
A blue-green chameleon Touch of Klass?

No, it's the flirt of Java Glow
that take the prize for Cup-A-Joe!

This is charming and utterly delightful. The imagery grows as the poem rolls on subtlety entrancing the reader as a smile of delight and wonder grows on my face. Thank you.
    Love,
    Tom B.

Aye, Aye, Aye! Thanks for sharing my silly reverie. We live in a world that has much beauty and color if we would just cherish it, I agree. Symmetry adds a lot to appearance, and clarity so much to expression, but eyes....eyes seem to be directly connected to soul, light or dark, or unseeing.

I hope you check out his poetry, too. There is some great verse on his pages. Thank you for the read and the warm comment. Also I think I mispelled couplet. But cuplet works in this case, too.

Since we so often think eyes are the mirrors of soul, and they carry so many colors, it's not easy to choose just one expression. I"m glad you enjoyed!

Nicci, I wrote another poem a long time ago about the mystique of smiling brown eyes, and it may be here somewhere. It's almost a limerick:

Said to be mirrors of the soul
they gleam with light though dark as coal
and spark a stirring from the start
in a twinkling to the heart.
Though sunshine turns to cloudy skies,
it's fire still dances in those brown eyes!

Yours are lovely, and they take in so much.

      Karen
