Such an inquisitive little bird, my Katerina...
Always on a different topic, jumping ahead,
Never waiting for the rest of us to
Catch up with her train of thought.
She never seemed to have the time…
Bright-eyed wonder filled her days…
The questions she asked that had
Barely crossed her lips before she asked
Another one, always wanting answers.
She paused only a moment for them, though…
Blonde hair so soft beneath my hand…
When she finally fell asleep each night,
Still pleading for me to read yet another story,
I wondered why she was always in such a hurry.
Perhaps she knew how little time she had…

A name was given in the contest, and I had to personify it. I hope that this makes her seem as alive as she appeared in my mind.
