Siting in an old rusty ford pick up truck
In a dusty sweat stained cowboy hat
Staring into the dust covered storm
blowing cross a land empty and flat
A vision came from times long ago
When warriors walked the land
And my grandfather walked with pride
With his shield and bow in hand
The storm that was to end his life
Take away all that he new
Yet he fought for the people still
In the ways only a warrior knew
I now can feel that lost pride of heart
As he made his final stand
I can feel the pain of the bullets blow
When warriors still walked the land

Sublimely composed...
Blessed are those that honor their families, for they will never lose their identity.
"Storm Vision" sings to honor.

Hood-Wink!
Visually engaging and gripping; the flashbacks and present imagery of you reach beyond the walls and pages of AP and straight into my mind and soul as I found myself reading this again and again - a favourite of mine on AP

HOODWINKED !
This poem has an interesting mix of present and the past through meaningful visions stirs the deep feelings and connectedness to past generations. Seeing the way native Americans were treated by the whit populace it is easy to determine who the real 'savages' were. Thanks for sharing this thoughtful poem, a good reminder that we need to respect ALL, not just a selected few. Write On dear poet!
You have been Hoodwinked today by the Poetic Bandits
because WE CARE!
God Bless!

TRULY TOUCHING!!!!!
That was indeed a time of war yet one of pride in ones peoples and beliefs also. One of the things I most admire about Native Americans is their deep respect in their beliefs.
