Mystery Man

You're the mystery man
Standing  regally for all to see
A radiant smile across your face
A mask to sheild your pain

You're the mystery man
whose heart is on the line
Dirty laundry aired out for all to see
Will it be received with understanding
or ridiculed with cruelty?

You give so much
Yet hold back enough
to make yourself
a mystery man
Yes, you're the mystery man

Is your timidness a ruse?
Do you have a tender spirit?
I'm so confused

Amidst mixed messages and obscurity
Amongst confused eccentricities
A child's wide eyes bore into my soul
With a yearning to be loved
Unconditionally
My heart melts
My heart pangs

You're the mystery man
whom I will never know
You're the mystery man
whose life has become a show

A shooting star darts across the midnight sky
Gone now
We wonder why
