I spent the whole day in line,
Awaiting the arrival of the new book.
I stood amongst others alike,
And listened to the clock strike twelve.
The doors swung open revealing its mysteries,
And the the poor employees were rushed upon.
I ran foward
To be presented with my long awaited book.
Handing them exact change,
I left with satisfaction.
I saved my pennies for months,
Counting down the days to go.
When all the country would applaud
The new Harry Potter book.
My friends and I retired to our homes,
Holed up in corners with teary eyes.
As I arrived at my place of home,
And entered my living room,
There was my mother,
Smiling triumphantly,
With a gift wrapped in her arms.
"I stayed up all night, and saved up,"
She said, smiling down at me.
As I carefully unfolded the wrapping,
I glanced down at Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,
And pulled out my pockets to reveal
The sudden emptiness.
I sank down onto the cold floor,
And rested between my legs were two books,
One mine...
And the other mine.
Money wasted,
And irony the curse.
Please tell me what you think
