My Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

They say the devil's in the details,
but I think they're mistaken,
because the detail's
the only place I see you.


Whenever I've spoken
to someone who's found you through trials
they always say
"It's the little things
that remind me
that He's there."


I'm sorry but I'm not impressed
with your "little" miracles.
Yeah it was great
that I got that doll
after praying so hard
and giving my savings to the missonaries,
but the better trick would've been keeping me
from getting my ass beat
by my parents.


You've never kept me safe.
All I'm saying
is that if my daughter were being raped
I wouldn't be standing next to her
whispering
"Shhhhh!
It's ok.
I have a plan.
This will be for my glory."


Some parent you are.
I would've killed the guy
who dared harm my little girl.


So please excuse me if I question
Your alimighty power,
or doubt your very existance,
because if you are really out there
you're either weak,
or an asshole.


Forgive me if I turn away from You;
Forgive me if I curse Your name,
for I'm only returning the favor.
If this is your plan,
I think I'll take it from here.
