The Waltz Of Syntax

So simple, this waltz of words,
but so complex, this bright illumination.
Like twisting together vibrantly colored streamers,
like aiming a spotlight on every tiny flaw to find beauty,
hidden in the cracks and depths of the atrocious.

Every petal of every flower is etched by the poet's pen,
a quill has grazed the surface of every daisy and rose
to carve blood from it's surface, to vomit personifications from the stem.

We mull and muse over the intricate,
but just beneath our fingertips,
beneath the pressure of our fingerprints,
we imprint the keyboard or the paper
with the identity of our souls,
and spill our psyche out in manipulated vocabulary,
and this is poetry.

Author notes

"Poetry is nothing more than an intensification or illumination of common objects and every day events until they shine with their singular nature, until we can experience their power, until we can follow their steps in the dance, until we can discern what part they play in the Great Order of Love. How is this done? By fucking around with syntax."
-Tom Robbins "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues"

I quite like this one... it made me smile, genuinely, which is a rarity, but I'm not sure that's what you were going for... Still 'The waltz of Syntax'.... brilliant..

Perfect capture of the prompt, I feel. The devil s indeed in the details.... the beauty is indeed in the details. Excellent. We are soul imprinters, masters of syntax.

Twice had I to read this, taken so I was with its imagery and flow. Coherence twines through every line as tendrils of thought upon the latticework of your words.

Seriously, this is very compelling poetry, with graceful images used to describe the craft of the poet's art.
