Centuries past

Forth coming and silent
the sentries march by
like time that has been
bronzed by a late fall sun
waves turn to ripples
what may be left of
what once could be
considered fortitude
loneliness never quite
turns it's crank away
from the dust of summer
days long gone by
the paint on the porch
of winter cracked
and peeled by seasons
that have fallen again
to the way side
all that remain are
the leaves of memory
and even those are
finding their own way
to the solidly frozen
ground just before
an ever early snow fall
the sun sets exactly
where it began and
a new century has
begun

Author notes

I've been feeling a little disheveled lately.....time seems to be sneaking up on me and my body seems to be betraying me more and more every day! No one lives forever and no one should have to live in daily and constant pain. I'm some where between dealing with it and not wanting to deal with it anymore!
