i went to church this morning
searching for answers
the only response:
"all undesirables are requested to leave this place immediately"
so i left,
entering unknown paths
leading me somewhere i didn't want to go
abandoning the paths
i'd been walking on firmly for years
as i strolled along the sidewalks
i noticed the faceless corners of this old city
"mommy, why does that flower grow
right in the middle of the pavement?"
" - because it is like us
... unwanted ... "

This is very good and not an ole one ... I mean, I knew it because you showed it to me in school once, but it gave me goosebumps again.
You are so brutally honest when you speaks about topics like that, but it really should open people's eyes and make them think. You should never forget what has happened, and what's more - we should not let it happen again.
Thank you for your wise words,
Cherish, dream, live
Joey

Very
poignant....so sad that such predjudice exists and you explain that so well without saying too much. 'Abandoning the paths, I'd been walking on firmly for years'.....is a very unnerving feeling - to feel so set and secure and have it all upturned, by a church....terrible!

If ever a church asked the "undesirables" to exit, I would wonder what they would do if Jesus arrived, bearded and robed, in sandals.
A thought to ponder and give reflection and your excellent poem inspires me to think metaphorically.
