My son, I wanted to tell you,
all the things you mean to me.
Yet when I started writing,
I got caught in all that can be.
You will face hardship,
and many things will make you sad.
One thing that you must know,
is you can always count on Dad.
I will always love you,
and that can never change.
You are my salvation,
and that was prearranged.
All the pain and torment,
and all the enduring strife,
everything was worth the battle
to bring you into my life.
Now I know nothing,
but overwhelming joy.
All of this since God gave me,
my beautiful, happy boy.
I see you now my son,
and I'm proud of all you'll do.
You make me look at the world,
and take a different view.
I smile when I think of you.
Your smile makes my heart sing.
You always will be my son,
and that means everything.
