We’ve ridden the trails of joy and despair
From first touch of love till gray streaked our hair
Bringing up kids to stand straight and tall
Looking back now, we gave it our all
Now we share years of slow, easy gaits
No hell bent for leather to fill up our plates
Relaxed in the saddle, no battles to fight
Counting the stars on quiet, autumn nights
We plodded along through all sorts of weather
Our hearts made the work as light as a feather
We shook out our loops and sowed some wild oats
Forded swollen streams without aid of floats
Love flows along like a slow running stream
Traversing terrain of rock and sunbeam
We’ll ride on together as our sun slowly sets
Still blazing life’s trails with no burning regrets

What excellent meter and flow this has. Focused message with solid end rhymes. Technique is awesome! Message is just as good. Solid meaning and this line..."Traversing terrain of rock and sunbeam" .. such a poetic way to refer to lifes ups and downs. I admire the effort put in to make such a professional read. well done!
