I was about 19 years old and had a cat named Gargamale. We named him this, (after the character on the Smurfs), because he was mean at times. I was sitting on the couch when he jumped up on me wanting me to love on him. I did so for a while, but when I quit and went to get up he got mad and sprayed me. My husband just laughed at me saying Gargamale was marking his territory, but I think he done it out of meanness.

Seems that Gargamale did not want you to stop petting him. I have a few, but all they do is bite my fingers so that I can pet them more. Cats are the funniest things.
