I Met Our King and Queen at Last

I thought I'd post a wee one
Before I turn in for the night
Especially for you, Maureen
Your wish is my delight

So here's the tale of my meet
For those as well who are keen
To know the what's and not's of
Our glorious King and Queen

I first met with them both
On a beautiful Sunday morn
Their home drowning in sunlight
Their gardens with flowers adorn

Uncle Hugh, the true gentleman
Affectionate, loving and kind
Infused his attention welcomingly
And I thought along that mind

Lunch at Tuskers, a lovely pub
We bought lemonade and wine
I supped my drink, no fear I think
For so long I'd stayed off the vine

Quite a giggle and laugh
Were had by one and all
And after our scrumptious lunch
We all came home - belly full.

I mustn't forget we took the time
To see Hugh and Edna's ducks
Beautiful, large and very friendly
I can still hear their clucks!

It was then we cruised home
To drink a cuppa tea
And chocolate wheaten biscuits
To their Majestic Hospitality

Quite special, your first hand account,
for those of us afar who have folowed
the words of the king in full descriptive
force. And, of course, a mention of
    the darling ducks----you now privileged
to have seen them in person! But not
as memorable the cuppa tea with
    Hugh and Edna.

    A delightful piece, Petra!!

    Dear Petra,
welcome on becoming another favourite to meet our King and Queen, they're a great couple aren't they? A lovely house and beautiful gardens and very hospitable. And you saw our ducks, Darby and Joan, I hope they have ducklings, but I'm sad I won't be there to see them in October. I hope you are enjoying your stay in New Zealand and seeing all your rellies. A beautiful poem Petra.
    Love Aunty Joan

      My dearest Aunty Joan,

Thank you for your welcome praise and sorry to hear you won't be able to make it for Darby and "Joan's" ducklings. I do hope Uncle Hugh sends you plenty of beautiful photos. I've missed AP very much and it's wonderful to be here in Christchurch, with my family, and AP family, Uncle Hugh. He's the bees' knees!!!! Take care and God bless you.
      Much love,
      Petratani xo

    Dear Petra Fleur,

I can't find words fit to express
    the ecstasy and joy
that meeting you now in the flesh
    has given this old boy.

Though I was in my working clothes
    and must've looked quite rough
when you phoned, straight away I rose
    to get there fast enough.

    And seeing you was truthfully
    unmitigated pleasure
and I can't wait again to see
you when you have some leisure.

I hope my hugs and kisses
    didn't cause you any pain
'coz I and my dear missus
hope to see you soon again.

Hahahahaha. Beaut poem, straight from your niecely heart.
Love and hugs, XXX...ooo... Uncle Hugh.

      Dear Uncle Hugh,

      How can my poetry
      Ever be heard?
      If you, my King
      Don't see each word

      Every verse I write
      Flows from my soul
      Praying to make
      Each half a whole

      Your comment for me
      Is a great compliment
      God blessed me
      For you're heaven sent.

      My dearest Uncle Hugh
      I love you!!!

      Your AP Niece
      Petra Fleur
