Her body, still,
wires and graphs and numbers,
tubes and bottles hanging from hooks -
I know she is still inside the weakened shell.
We live this vigil in hell,
await the moment
our little girl -
daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, precious friend -
returns to us,
her beautiful smile, her good heart.
Too soon, dear God,
Our little girl lost too soon.
Did I wait too long to pray?
Author notes
My niece was in a rollover accident on Friday, September 18. She sustained severe internal trauma to her brain and lies in a coma. Today she is in surgery to remove a portion of her cranium in the hopes that the pressure is relieved.
Thousands of people around the world are praying for Ali Adelmann. She is 20 years old. I would give the balance of my worthless life to save her. I wish I could believe that could be enough.

It is never too late! You know where I am with this my dear friend, and I continue on in the vigil with you and yours. May your heart be lifted in knowing that she gains strength each day. I wish there was something I could do or more I could say in the way of comfort but I am worthless in those abilities...

Many Blessings ♥
Renee

I'm sorry. I know she means a lot to you. I will pray for her and for your peace.

All that can be done at a time like this is to reach out in friendship and pray. I wish you the best, Scott. When something like this happens all the rest of us can only add our prayers, which I'm doing. Also here's a little time for me to give you my pyramid.
1.) do the best you can for yourself and others.
2.)Do the second best thing for yourself and others.
3.) Do number four, 4.), 5.) 6.), etc. until you find happiness somewhere at sometime. I imagine that this will take some time, but it's worth it.
Finally give God a chance. Mathew, Mark, Luke and John are full of love and understanding. They tell Jesus' story very well, and it's a story we all should know, whether or not we are believers!
So God bless you and and Ali! You told a good story here, and I wish her well.

I am so sorry for you niece.

I hate when stuff like this happens. The human instinct wants to say I'm sorry. How pathetic is sorry at such a time as this? I almost lost my daughter when she was only two months old. She is a miralce today. Her injuries were severe as well. The only thing I can say is that I do believe in prayer, but often times we wait until we've tried everything else first. It's never too late to ask God for anything, He sits waiting for us to do so.
I do hope the situation works out for the best, and that your niece pulls through. I will be praying as well.

Scott, I am so sorry about your niece. My prayers are added as well. Please let us know how she is doing.

Oh Scott...
my heart goes out to you and yours. Add my name to the prayer list.
If lil yellow hugs could be enough at times like this...
I'd send a billion. sighs.

-
very difficult to pull off without being over the top with emotion or saccharine but you managed it with class Scott... well done
well done

wow
add me to that list
well written, I know emotion is good for writing but sometimes something so emotional so fresh is hard to write effectively

Poignant poetry! If your prayers are half as much they'll surely help!
Wishing you, Ali and the family safe passage through your most trying moments! -
Oh, Scott. I'm so sorry. Prayers are aloft.
