Mama I know that you called to ask about me.
How were you to know that at the door was the man that killed me and the others.
I just moved here because it was supposed to be a safe town.
Strange this feeling of floating in space and not knowing that is my body laying there.
Oh mama I know you are grieving and how I wish you could brush my hair again.
It was you that called and asked the police to check on my welfare.
God I hope someone was with you when they told you that I was one of the four.
Found dead on the floor.
Being dead is so strange and I can not feel a thing.
Except I feel your tears streaming down in grief.
I would have been there to comfort you but we did not know he was a killer.
After all a thirteen year old girl can not know what dangers there are on the Internet.
I never thought about it at all myself, but then death came knocking on September 12th, 2009.
Why mama, what did I do to him?
Thank you mama for making the call and mama
if you can hear me in your mind, I love you.
Author notes
This is a warning to all teens who think that giving out their address on MySpace is safe. The horrible story is unfolding bit by bit as friends of mine who had to be identified by another friend were murdered in Farmville, Virginia. The killer traced the sixteen year old girl to her home. One of the victims mother made a welfare check call to the police. It was excellent work on the policemen part that he was caught as soon as he was. This is all too real for many people who think they are safe.

I'm Crying/Excellent Message
Oh precious poetess this is so wonderful that you are sending a very important message to the youth but really everyone. It is so dangerous to put your address out there on the Internet. I'm so sad and grieved at this story and so sad for the parents and loved ones left behind grieving their loss of the precious innocence of children of such a young age. You know they are not suppose to die before we do!!!
My son died just 2 years ago on Sept 16Th and he was only 24. Oh how I could relate to this poem as if my son was talking to me. Just wanted you to know referring to this matter that part of the poem was very comforting to me. Oh how I miss him so. Thank you for sharing!!
Wishing You Many Blessings,
Much Love Always,
Kelle Marie

So sad that the lesson will come to late for some. It is easy to think, sat in your room that the whole world is a wonderful place, not seeing the dangers that are all around. As mum to 3 teens I know only too well how you need to re-enforce daily not to give out personal info to anyone, not even friends. Such a sad piece, I wish you luck in the contest and with getting the message heard

I absolutely agree that we must take step to protect ourselves online. There are too many unsavoury aspects of society that will take advantage! The poem is so sad, and strikes a chord. A message that certainly needs to get out.
