dancing in dim light of morning’s come-here
or come-down dusk, are little bright-light hums
dressed in their wing and finery
to send out coded creations
which we can only gather a guess at
bathing in brooks and babble streams,
they gather to ring around roses,
and midnight essences rising
in beauty for Beauty’s sake
delicate dust, seen only by a discerning eye,
filters through leafy canopies
to slide down slanted beams;
such blessings we seldom acknowledge
dance my darlings, with industrious bees,
supping on sweetest honey, and splendid cups
of creation’s dew
speak in soulful sentences only a freed heart can hear
and let us join in your chanting circle
before Sun strips us of magic and musing
and hides pocketfuls of soft cherish-crudités
to rest until rush of darkness demands they dance
again
