all the hours of my day
used to be yours
to use with abandon and play
did you say you wanted an adventure?
today I saw the sun
locked it out on the porch
and went back to restless dreams
Saturday night awoke me
I tore at the calendar
spent the night watching people dance
my legs involuntarily moving
to your beat
until they were silenced
with heavy doses of
part - alcohol
part - old age
I saw a young couple kiss
the music whispering sweet lies
of love and eternity and glowing future
into their vulnerable souls
The music wants its audience
to keep dancing
