Sit with me a while, in these quiet hours I hold hostage with fluorescent light.

Because I'm less than sober and lonely for another breathing soul.

We don't need to speak, or touch, or even look at each other.

All I want is presence.

Untill sunrise decimates my artificial day

and I collapse in coveted comatose sleep

simply exist

                   with me.

All I ask is honesty.

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!

That last line is the perfect ending while drifting off to sleep. I've had many nights in the company of ghosts, and cold as they are it's the only warmth I felt. Shame they don't know of their own limbo, and like a constrictor... how they squeeze every last bit of life out of those they say they care for.

As warm as an old electric candle in a northern winter basement.
