I watched a spider working
wrapping up her prey
so calmly did she spin & twirl
by first light of day
she didn't sit & stare
overwhelmed by job at hand
she simply cleared her web
so another bug could land
I thought of this smart spider
living day by day
playing with what's dealt her
there is no other way
a lesson of great value
this spider had for me
why fret about my life
distress won't set me free
inner peace is simple
acceptance is the key
and now the folly of resistance
is very clear to see
life always is worth living
and goes by way too fast
enjoy this day you're given
it just might be your last
today you're like the spider
but time will flow and ebb
tomorrow you might find
you're caught in someone's web

For me,the prime purpose of poetry is to simply clarify the complex. You've done that
well;so ,naturally,I like it.

yay!! what an excellent job! Your rhyme was smooth and flowing and the poem painted exactly the right picture in my mind and thought in my heart. To often I have felt like the fly and too seldom have I been the spider. The poem it's self created a kind of calmness in me. Thank you for the wonderful words of wisdom!

this is a really cool comment. I have more often been the fly myself!
Life is peaceful when you don't expect any particular outcome. The problem is remembering this day to day!!!

a good poem that scratches at the wound of poetry and opens it to set free communication's blood.
