Life's Pace

Old men smile through smoke stained teeth
to banter and remiss when they were young.
Italian stucco walls of an open church
welcome the visitor where few enter,
to quickly pass in quiet faithful manner.
The streets come to life as traffic quicken
the pace...sunset embraces night with those
seeking three course meals.  People greet
each other with smiles as though friends
for life.  Life slowed to walk the plaza
past the shops, hotels and restrauant,
arm in arm strolls parade after mid-night.
I sip my beer from hotel patio with deep lament
of a simpler time to pass before me while
culture sustain timeless family ties.

Thanks for the comment, I am in Gaeta, Italy...the pace is slow, the drivers of vehicle are fast and the night embraces arm in arm walks with the family up and down the streets. I hope you are doing well, I keep you in my prayers.

Such a thoughtful write on the prompt. This has a very self reflective air about it and fits the prompt so well. Thank you so much for your entry
